This assignment is to be done in pen. |

- Make a one inch by 5 inch rectangle and divide it up into 1 inch squares.
- Pick a Zentangle that you can change the over all tone by how close or how big or small you make the shapes.
- Start with the shapes covering most of the white area and fill the right box. This should be the darkest box
- In the next box space out the lines and shapes to all more white to show. This box should be lighter than the first box.
- In the 3rd box again space out the lines and shapes to make a lighter box.
- Continue until you finish all the boxes.
- At this point you should have 5 boxes getting lighter and lighter from right to left.

- Hold it up vertically and see how the shadow pattern changes and intensifies.
- Move the paper around and see how the shadows change.
- What does it look like laying flat on the table?

- Hold the paper in a position that creates the strongest shadows.
- Mark the shapes created by the wrinkles so you know where the shadows should be.
- You should use a pencil to do this so you can erase it later.

- Pick at least 3 Zentangle patterns to use in this work.
- Place a dark version of the pattern in a shadow area.
- Place a light version of the same pattern in the adjacent area that was not in shadow.
- Organize the tones of light and dark with different Zentangle patterns
- Group up the same patterns to create interesting shapes and an interesting composition.
