1. What is the central idea of your concentration?My concentration subject is food. I wanted to explore the shapes and forms of food and emphasize its abnormalities by using macro techniques. People believe that they are familiar with food because they consume it everyday but in reality, they know nothing about its beauty and complexity.
2. How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? You may refer to specific images as examples. When referencing specific images please indicate the image numbers.I emphasized the texture of food in images three, four, ten, and twelve by using side lighting. When most people see food, their light source is directly above them because they are in a kitchen. I made the texture appear abstract by using light at an angle. In image eleven I used selective focus to bring out the shape of an apple stem; it is so often over looked. In images eight and nine the red skin of the pepper contrasts the green stem. In image nine I created visual tension to try to get a strong figure ground relationship.
