1. What is the central idea of your concentration?

For my concentration, I pursued the exploration of the simplistic beauty of the human spirit, and the diversity of the inner human experience as revealed through emotions, facial expressions, and body language. The black and white theme throughout this concentration is meant to portray the importance of the rawness of human emotion, and the focus on human expression to show how life is found in the individual, not the distracting environment surrounding us.

2.How does the work in your concentration demonstrate the exploration of your idea? You may refer to specific images as examples. When referencing specific images please indicate the image numbers.

Images 2 and 7 represent the soul and its individuality within each person. The stark contrast in image 7 of the brightly colored iris against the monochromatic face is meant to give the observer a look into who the subject is through the "window to the soul." Images 1, 3, 8, and 11 portray the innocence of a child. Each displays an emotion unique to their life, with color and tones playing a significant role in defining the mood of their experiences. Image 4 is demonstrative of a mood of thoughtfulness.
